Overview
Join us as sector and youth leaders discuss how we can equip and inspire young people to be a part of the systems and institutions that shape our society, democracy and civic life.
Young people today are more politically literate on the issues than ever, but rarely see clear paths to engage systems and institutions effectively.
With the help of our expert panel of sector leaders from the public sector, politics and law, this Young Citizens event will explore what current leaders need to be doing to create change today, whilst also encouraging and equipping young people to continue to engage with them.
Speakers will include:
- Dominic Campbell (Founder and former CEO, FutureGov)
- Amelia Collins-Patel MBE (#iwill ambassador)
- Ashley Hodges (CEO, Young Citizens)
- Lord (Iain) McNicol (Co-Chair, APPG Political Literacy, NCS Trust Board member)
- Shakeel Mohammed (NCS Trust Youth Voice Forum)
- Sally Penni MBE (barrister and author)
What do we need to be doing within existing systems and institutions to show the next generation change is possible? How should we be communicating this to ensure that they don’t disengage? And what skills or knowledge does it take to enable real change?
As a part of our work with the APPG on Political Literacy, this event will be a chance for a range of leaders dedicated to creating great institutions and systems to come together to discuss how we can build on the momentum young people have created and meaningfully shape them for the future.
